To apply for BC assistance programs, you must do so on  BC My Self Serve. 

 

 

Affordable Childcare Benefit: a monthly child care payment to help eligible families such as those living with a medical condition that interferes with your ability to care for your child. 

Dental Assistance: If you receive income or disability assistance, you may be able to have basic dental costs covered. Everyone who receives assistance can access emergency dental services to relieve pain. Detailed information on the Dentist Fee Schedule can be found in the Dentist Supplement

Disability Assistance (MoSD): Disability assistance can help you if you need financial or health support. You must be designated as a Person with Disabilities (PWD) to receive this type of assistance.

Hardship Assistance: Assistance options to meet the essential needs of persons who are not eligible for income or disability assistance

Health Supplements and Programs: Information about health supplements and programs that are available through the BC Employment and Assistance (BCEA) Program to assist with specific individual health needs and circumstances

Income Assistance (MoSD): If you are in need and have no other resources, you may be eligible for income assistance. This can help support your transition to employment

Life Threatening Health Needs: Information on access to medical equipment, medical supplies, or medical transportation to persons who are not otherwise eligible but who face a direct and imminent life-threatening health need and have no other resources to meet that need. 

Medical Services Only: Assists persons with the Persons with Disabilities designation to obtain and maintain employment by allowing them to retain their Medical Services Plan and no-deductible PharmaCare coverage as well as other health supplements as they move from disability assistance into financial independence

Medical Transportation: Medical transportation supplements are provided to specific recipients of income assistance and disability assistance who are eligible for general health supplements or are facing a life-threatening health need.

Training & Education Savings Grant: $1200/child. Not income tested and application must be applied through an RESP provider when the child is between 6-9 yrs old.

Non-Profit Financial Assistance

Patients can apply for numerous sources of disability and medical grants from the following community organization sources. Programs may provide funding or lower the cost of services and eligibility should be verified prior to completing applications. Veterans Affairs

Government of Canada - Veteran's Affairs: Financial programs and services 

Last Post Fund: delivers the Veterans Affairs Canada Funeral and Burial Program which provides funeral, burial and grave marking benefits for eligible Canadian and Allied Veterans

Royal Canadian Legion - Financial assistance for serving and former Canadian Armed Forces members, RCMP, and their families who are in financial distress. Grants are available for food, heating, clothing, prescription medication, medical appliances and equipment, essential home repairs and emergency shelter or assistance. Smaller comforts can also be provided to Veterans and surviving spouses who are hospitalized.

Support our Troops Funding: Provides extra support because of challenges arising from Canadian Armed Forces service.

 The BC Cancer library system consists of a central library at Vancouver Centre, and branches in Abbotsford, Kelowna, Prince George, and Victoria where both patient and professional collections are available on site. Librarian staff are available at all centres, including Surrey.
