This course is a collaboration between BC Cancer and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and is divided into three separate activities. The course can be done all at once or in parts.
This course was developed by the nursing educators at BC Cancer. At the completion of the module the learner will: understand why health literacy is important when caring for older adults in cancer care; learn about the unique challenges faced by older adults in cancer care; and learn strategies to help older adults during cancer care.
The e-learning module explores how health care providers can create an environment that encourages patient and family learning by uncovering the learning needs of patients and families and delivering health information in a way that meets these needs (e.g. verbal communication, print materials, and visual aids).
