Nutrition and exercise support
HealthLink DietitianCall 8-1-1 or email HealthLink BC dietitians for free nutrition information. Ask to speak to the Oncology Dietitian.
Physical Activity Services (HealthLInk BC)Qualified exercise professionals at HealthLink BC can answer your physical activity and exercise questions. Email or call 8-1-1 toll free in BC from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and ask for “Physical activity service for cancer.”
Smoking cessation support
BC Cancer Smoking Cessation ProgramAs part of your treatment with BC Cancer, you will be referred to a Quit Coach from QuitNow, BC's provincial quit program, to help you make a plan that is right for you to quit smoking.
QuitNow.caA free program for British Columbians looking to quit or reduce tobacco and e-cigarette use, delivered by the BC Lung Foundation on behalf of the Government of British Columbia. Call 1.877.455.2233 for information.
Respecting Tobacco (First Nations Health Authority)Free resources and information about sacred tobacco, including videos and podcasts.
Smokers' HelplineA free, confidential service offered by the Canadian Cancer Society, offering support and information about quitting smoking, vaping and tobacco use.
Talk TobaccoTalk Tobacco is designed to meet the need for culturally relevant, accessible and targeted tobacco and vaping cessation services for First Nation, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous communities. Call 1.833.998-TALK (8255) or email talktobacco@cancer.ca.
The BC Cancer library system consists of a central library at Vancouver Centre (VC), and branches in Abbotsford (AC), Kelowna (SAHCSI), Prince George (CN), Surrey (FVC), and Victoria (VIC). All centres have patient resource collections in our Cancer Information Centres (CIC), and all centres have a professional collection on site. Professional resources for CN are housed in the adjacent UHNBC Library.
